Salmon Run Riesling

Posted on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in Domestic White, White, Wine

The grapes were crushed, pressed and the juice was cold settled. The wine was all fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperature to preserve the fruit aromas. After fermentation, the wine was allowed to settle in the tanks over the Winter before blending and filtration.
This Riesling displays wonderful characteristics of steely acidic backbone, floral elements and pear/apple notes. This is a wine that can easily be paired with food at the table and also enjoyed on its own.

 Alcohol: 11.7%

 Acidity: .84g/100ml pH: 3.07

 Sugar: 1.7%

TENUTA DI ARECENO CHIANTI CLASSICO

Posted on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in Import Red, Italy Red, Red, Wine

In Chianti, wine has been produced for centuries. It is a land of ancient grace where you can still see the footprints of Etruscans and Romans. The landscape, dotted by medieval castles, holds monument to the passionate struggle between Siena and Florence for this beautiful land. From this wild land of mountains and forests, alive with history and passion, comes this Chianti Classico Riserva

This Chianti Classico Riserva has floral notes of violets and irises on the nose, with hints of earth and vines. The palate is dominated by dark, lush plums and ripe black cherries, with a slight hint of mushrooms, enveloped in soft, velvet tannins with a balanced tingle of acidity. The wine finishes with the classic Chianti Classico signature of dark chocolate and tobacco, with lingering hints of orange peel.

The Crusher Petite Sirah

Posted on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in California Red, Domestic Red, Red, Wine

Deep, inky purple, with aromas of jammy blueberry, vanilla, caramel, and a touch of baking spice. Concentrated, soft fruit flavors of dark raspberry and blackberry sorbet are well balanced by notes of brown sugar and cedar contributed from the French oak aging. Well rounded with subtle secondary flavors as well, dark chocolate and cinnamon stick both emerge in the mid-palate. Big and full-bodied, the rich mouthfeel is enhanced by a solid backbone of tannins that finish soft, even in the wine’s youth due to minimal fining. The berry flavors linger in the finish, and balanced natural acidity makes you want to go back for another taste. With its moderate alcohol and excellent concentration, this varietal is clearly the flagship of The Crusher.

La Follette Chardonnay

Posted on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in California White, Domestic White, White, Wine

Fresh thyme, wood spice and honeydew melon commingle with musk notes in the heady bouquet. Citrus acids on entry, with a concentrated palate of nectarine and lemon curd, set against good minerality. With time in the glass, the musk and pungent tropical fruits are amplified. Multi-layered and balanced, the acid persists through the long finish.

Managed by third-generation farmers, brothers Mike and Steve Sangiacomo, this vineyard benefits from a daily stream of cool air pulled inland from the San Pablo Bay. Planted in 1998, the Roberts Road block is rooted in an ancient footprint of Copeland Creek, providing alluvial soils with tracks of gravel. We work with the excellent Old Wente Chardonnay clone from this site, where the fruit is picked and pre-sorted under the light rigs of the Sangiacomos’ night harvesting team
